Site Assessment

How the VPS system works

Tell us a little about your building and parking setup so we can assess the site and determine the best VPS solution for your building.

Usually takes about 5 minutes

No cabling to bays

Bollards run on batteries that typically last 2+ years without charging.

VPS Gateway(s)

One or more Gateways talk wirelessly to the bollards, normally within about 100 m line of sight.

Power and internet

Each Gateway needs mains power and an internet connection.

Internet for the Gateway usually comes one of two ways:

  • Existing building network. A network cable runs from the Gateway to an existing router or switch, often in the Building Manager's office, a communications/control room or the CCTV equipment room.
  • Dedicated 4G/5G router. Where mobile coverage is good, a separate router connects the Gateway(s) without using the building's network.

Mobile coverage in basements varies a lot. VPS will recommend the best connection method based on your building layout, existing network and signal.
